jb: Yesterday we finally made it to the “new” Academy of Sciences in SF (which we’ve been meaning to do for years). It was a good, but long, family day and we were happy to spend time with some school friends, too. The museum is beautiful and gave me some much needed practice with my camera. This shot didn’t come out perfect (and I would love to go back just to retake this picture and some others) but I really like the lighting and reflections in the pendulum.
j: This is a visual representation of the break I’m about to take from the fabulous interwebs. See you on the other end!
GORGEOUS shot, jb! What would have made it perfect? *gets out pen and paper to take notes* 🙂
I’m learning how to use my new lens — it has a shallow depth of field, so I have to be very precise about what’s in focus — which I found tricky to do with a moving pendulum. Since I suspected that the museum would frown upon me stopping the pendulum long enough for me to take a picture of it holding still, I just took a zillion shots. I wanted the reflection in focus, which I got along with the people in the reflection. (Yay!) I was hoping the whole pendulum would be in focus, but the tip was still blurry. But I do like how the colors turned out. So, not a perfect shot but it was a pretty perfect learning experience, and that counts a lot. 🙂
I love hearing what you were going for. And yes, a “pretty perfect learning experience” counts a whole lot. Maybe more than a perfect picture.
Yay you for “doing what you need to succeed!” I’m cheering you on, ss!
Thanks. It was step back or crash and burn. The choice was easy (and necessary). xo
Well then, an additional “Yay you!” for choosing wisely. I’m pretty sure there have been times when I actually stepped forward while crashing and burning, so I appreciate the wisdom of your decision. And I’m here for you in any direction – crashed, burned or otherwise. 🙂
Love both of these!
jb, your photo prompted in me an urge to watch the movie “Inception” again. That’s what it reminds me of, for some reason.
j, *many hugs* and happy writing!
Oooh! I like my pictures doing that kind of prompting. Thanks for sharing!
