j: The (amazing) thing about committing to a year-long love project is that you start to see love everywhere.
jb: In my family, the birthday kid got to select whatever cake they wanted from “the book of cakes” and mom would (magically!) make it for you. (Thanks, Mom!) I especially remember a cake shaped like a butterfly and another shaped like a train.
I am happily continuing the tradition with my son; every year so far he requested either a train or a fish. But this year he surprised me with a request for a “cake that looks like the red M&M guy”. And the tradition continues… 🙂
Wow! My son found a rock like this for me last week and I almost posted that picture instead. Neato! I’ve been collecting found heart shapes for awhile. Perhaps we’re due for another joint project… 🙂
That sounds fun; we need to talk! I didn’t pick this one up, because it’s pretty big (it would cover a dessert plate) and we were at the beginning of the trail. But it was a lovely hike on a lovely day. (You son’s birthday… he must have been good!) 😉
He’s awesome! (And yes, let’s talk more projects… :-D)
AND wow to you! That’s such a great red m&m guy face! Did you son’s teeth turn red?
Thanks! I actually amazed myself on this one, because unlike the other cakes this one required “drawing”. Phew! Made it another year! Not looking forward to the year he requests a Transformer cake, though!
I expected everyone’s teeth to turn red, too. But, despite using an entire bottle of red food dye, no one’s did. Although my fingers were dyed blood red for the rest of the day; I’ll have to remember that trick for Halloween. 🙂
